Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.85 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in the East, 218-219. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate and draped bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. VOTA PVBLICA Elagabalus, veiled and togate, standing front, head to left, sacrificing out of his right hand over lighted altar. BMC -, cf. 292 (bust draped and cuirassed). Cohen -. RIC -. Thirion 373. A rare and interesting issue with a lovely eastern portrait. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
